Times Internet’s* head of Smartapp and mobile growth Deepak Abbot has quit the company. Gautam Sinha, the CEO of Times Internet will act as the interim head of growth after Abbot leaves at the end of this month. Deepak Abbot worked with Times Internet as the head of mobile growth for 2.2 years. Before that he was the head of product marketing at Paytm, CPO at Reliance Entertainment Digital, general product manager at Zapak, UX consultant at Satyam Computers, ecommerce product manager at Times Internet and product executive at CyberMedia for a collective 19 years. The company has hired Gaurav Sarin as business head of Smartapp. Sarin had previously co-founded RationalHeads Technologies and Vantage Analytics and worked with Airtel, Aircel, Times Internet, GroupM and Indiaeyeballs.com for over 17 years. Note that MediaNama had enquired with Times Internet about Abbot’s departure over the last month, but was told that he was not quitting the company.
