Sportz Interactive acquired by FW Sports Investment fund & ASK Pravi Capital

Mumbai-based sports focused solutions company Sportz Interactive has been acquired by FW Sports Investment Fund and ASK Pravi Capital Advisors for an undisclosed amount. Under the new ownership, the company will continue to work with STATS LLC for providing its services and use the funding for driving growth and expanding to new regions.

Sportz Interactive is rather interesting, particularly since most media companies in India just put up their print content online, or re-purpose it, without doing much that is exclusive for the web. Sportz Interactive currently offers products like Sports Infographics, Fantasy & Gaming, Match Centre, mobile apps and services like live scores, stats & historical data, web and digital development and social media campaigns to leagues, teams, broadcasters, publishers and brands for platforms including the web, mobile, audio, TV, DTH, IPTV, digital OOH and print.

The company has historical databases for sports/events like Cricket, Football, Formula One, Moto GP, Tennis, Golf, the Olympic Games, which many media companies may not have. As such, clients include companies like Star Sports, Yahoo, NDTV, ESPNcricinfo, Pro Kabaddi, Delhi Daredevils, Wisden India, Sony Six, Web18, Indian Super League, Fairfax Media, International Cricket Council etc.

The platform is also an official Media Solutions Partner with Facebook, and claims that over the last 2 years, it has tripled its revenue and increased the size of its team to over 270 from 100. It mentions that growth was primarily driven by new businesses including social media, fantasy gaming and data visualizations.

Founded in 2002, Sportz Interactive, a part of Chicago-headquartered STATS Global Network, originally provided only Sports Data but eventually expanded to providing fan engagement features with the launch of infographics, analytics and other broadcast solutions.
