Ixigo now allows its users to book an Uber and Redbus tickets

Ixigo has partnered with Uber and redBus to let its users book cabs and buses from the ixigo trains app.

The Uber partnership will be live in 28 cities, while redBus can be used to book 70,000 routes in the country. Ixigo currently claims to have 10 million users. Users don’t need to have the Uber app installed on their phones to book a cab. As of now, smartphone users can get a Uber cab from web, Yatra, Snapdeal, Zomato, Housing and Google Maps.

In case of Redbus tickets, users can view bus schedules, boarding and drop off points, select seats and make payments via ixigo.

Ixigo’s focus on cabs

This April, ixigo had launched offline cab booking from Uber, Ola, TaxiForSure, EasyCabs etc. using the user’s location from the PNR confirmation and SMSs on phone. In May, it launched intercity cab booking with 250 intercity cab operators. In April last year, ixigo had launched an Android app called ixigo Cabs which would aggregate cab info from places near the users, partnering with major taxi aggregator apps. In August 2015, ixigo acquired Rutogo, an intercity cab aggregator to scale ixigo’s cabs app.

The company has been adding a repertoire of services to its portfolio. It seems intent on building an all inclusive travel service since it lists pretty much all aspects of travel.
– In July, ixigo rolled out Ixibaba, an artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot which would answer simple questions related to all travel planning and booking queries.
– In March ixigo launched ixibook, a service which would allow users to book flights and hotels on the ixigo app, in a partnership with Cleartrip and OYO Rooms.
– In November last year, it launched a meta search called Super Value Hotels for curated budget hotels on its platform.
