By Sneha Johari & Shashidhar KJ Online cab aggregator Ola has suspended an unnamed cab driver and shared the details of the car with Kolkata authorities in response to the reported gangrape and murder of a 12 year old girl in the city. However, Ola also said that according to its records, the incident did not take place while the driver was on the Ola platform. Ola’s full statement: “We are saddened by the reports of the alleged misbehaviour of a driver in Kolkata. On preliminary identification of the cab details shared by authorities, we have suspended the account associated with this cab with immediate effect. As per our records, this incident has not occurred while on the Ola platform. We will work with the authorities to share any information that will help support their investigation.” Two drivers Shankar Shaw and Guddu Singh reportedly saw the girl on the road and got her into the car and forced themselves onto her before killing her and throwing her body in a canal below the Park Citrus flyover in the city. According to the Hindustan Times report, both the drivers confessed to killing the girl and have now been arrested.
