GirnarSoft, the parent company of CarDekho, BikeDekho, Gaadi, Zigwheels, BuyingIQ and Drishya360s, has launched, a portal for trading passenger commercial vehicles, reports Techcircle. The portal allows users to search for buses, vans and autorickshaws based on brand, model and budget and other factors.

The portal also displays pictures and videos, brochures and prices of different models. It currently claims to list over 2,000 dealers, 2,500 service centers, 2,500 spare part centers and 312 body makers across the country. The company had earlier entered the commercial segment with the launch of last year, which it claims to receive an average of 10-12 lakh monthly page views and 2-3 lakh unique visitors.

Note that in January GirnarSoft had said that it planned to launch multiple automobile verticals including ones for batteries, light commercial vehicles, insurance and hyperlocal roadside assistance services in the next 3-4 months. GirnarSoft’s new and old products would transition from being content platforms to ecommerce platforms, while it planned to expand to the Middle East and African regions, and take its new platforms there.

GirnarSoft funding & restructuring: In March, GirnarSoft raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Google Capital and participation from existing investor Hillhouse Capital. At the time, it said it would use the funds for technology, R&D and expansion within and outside India. The next month, the company laid off 60 people in a round of restructuring. GirnarSoft added that it would be increasing its staff size to 3,500 by the first quarter of 2016-17.

GirnarSoft’s recent investments & acquisitions: In July, the company acquihired PSU consultancy company Valueserve. In May, it acquired the 3D visualization startup Volob Technologies. In April, the company acquired software services startup Connecto as well as vehicle assistance company Help On Wheels. In the same month, it also invested an undisclosed amount in car testing firm Advanced Structures India.

Other developments:

– In December, GirnarSoft invested $1 million in Gurgaon based CollegeDekho, an online platform which lists college across streams in the country and offers test preparation material.

– In July, CarDekho launched CarBay, a portal which would provide information on cars in Malaysia and Thailand.

– In May, CarDekho launched a new platform called TyreDekho, which would provide users with tyre-related research tools, reviews and other content. In the same month, it launched 3 websites in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

– Earlier this month, CarDekho launched a loan platform for used car dealers.
