500M calls on Truecaller app monthly; Huawei partnership

Truecaller, which has 100 million users in India, claims that users are making over 500 million calls monthly from its app, 4 months since it launched the dialer. In March this year, Truecaller said that it would display availability (online/offline) status of contacts, call history feature that replaces unknown numbers with names and a built-in dialer that allowed users to make calls directly from the Truecaller app. In 2014, the company had introduced an alternate dialer app called Truedialer for Android and Windows Phone that provided information about the number users were about to call and also allowed them to search unknown numbers on Truecaller. In September 2015, Truecaller had introduced the ‘availability’ feature on its Truedialer Android app. Truemessenger SMS filtering app Note that in July 2015, Truecaller launched an Android messaging app called Truemessenger which claimed to have an automated spam filter for the Indian market. Truemessenger would do what Truecaller does for phone calls, it would identify the sender of the SMS through its user base, especially for contacts outside a user’s phone book. However, it first needs to be set as the default messaging app in order to block spam and unsolicited messages.
