Yahoo’s Nitin Mathur has joined TE Connectivity

Nitin Mathur

Yahoo’s former senior director of marketing for APAC & head of media for India & South East Asia, Nitin Mathur, has joined TE Connectivity as the senior director and head of marketing for APAC, reports Advertising Age. Mathur joined Yahoo in October 2006 and his stint at the company ended in April 2016. Mathur joined TE Connectivity after spending almost nine years at Yahoo, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mathur will be working from TE Connectivity’s Singapore office and will oversee the marketing strategy, digital and integrated marketing plans for the company in the Asia Pacific region, Ad Age reports. TE Connectivity is a Switzerland-based manufacturer of sensors and connectivity equipments. According to Ad Age, Mathur was overseeing Yahoo’s critical markets: India and Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. Prior to joining Yahoo, Mathur was the director of marketing at Sapient for around four years and was a product manager at Times Internet for three years before that. Yahoo's layoffs: In 2014, Yahoo India fired employees working for its software development centre in Bangalore, a move that was a part of its global strategy to consolidate operations. The company was steadily cutting down the strength of the team, firing 600 employees in October 2014 alone, of which 100-150 people were contract employees. The company had also shut down two of its three offices in Bangalore that same year.
