Samsung’s Rajiv Mishra to join Apple India
Rajiv Mishra will join Apple as its India head of media and public affairs, Economic Times reported. Mishra is currently the Vice President of media and corporate social responsibility division at Samsung Electronics. Mishra joined Samsung in August 2014 and has over 22 years of professional experience. He has worked for various media organisations like Hindustan Times Group, Star TV, Zee TV, Reliance Infocomm Limited, News 24 and India News, among others. Mishra also worked with Lok Sabha TV as CEO and has been a nominated member of various media advisory bodies in various ministries.
Flipkart restructures top management
Online retailer Flipkart has promoted Samardeep Subandh as head of categories, The Times of India reported. He had joined the company in December last year, as its Marketing head. He has over a decade of experience in marketing and sales with FMCG giants such as HUL and Marico. He will be reporting to Flipkart’s CEO Binny Bansal and help drive-up sales for multiple categories, especially mobiles and appliances. Amit Bansal, head of large appliances; Rishi Vasudev, head of fashion retail; and Adarsh Menon, who leads electronics and automobiles, will now report to Subandh as part of the latest internal restructuring.
Anil Goteti, has also been promoted and will now head the marketplace platform to focus on improving seller experience, enhancing sellers’ reach and strengthening the overall merchant ecosystem. He was earlier heading the mobiles category at Flipkart. Goteti is replacing Manish Maheshwari, who left the online commerce major to join Web 18 as CEO last month.
Former MobileStore COO Ajay Veer Yadav has also joined Flipkart as VP of mobiles category to help boost mobile sales of the company.
Flipkart’s Sharat Singh joins Adobe
Sharat Singh, who had joined Flipkart as vice president of engineering in November, has quit after a short six-month stint at Flipkart, VCCircle reported. He has moved on to the US multinational Adobe as vice president of engineering. Singh had joined Flipkart from online travel agency MakeMyTrip, where he was the chief technology officer. Singh has previously worked with Shopzilla, Nextag Inc and Microsoft and specialises in engineering management, big data analytics.
Mindshare appoints Maneesheel Gautam as SEA Digital Head
Mindshare, the global media agency network, that is part of WPP, has appointed Maneesheel Gautam to the role of Digital Leader of South East Asia, Exchange4media reported. Gautam has over 16 years of multi-function media experience across disciplines and countries and will focus on strengthening Mindshares’s sector-specific solutions. He is also responsible for the growth of the Agency’s performance business in South East Asia.
Ecom Express appoints Girish Lakshman & Rajiv Kapoor as Board Directors
Logistics provider Ecom Express, has appointed former Amazon executive Girish Lakshman, and Rajiv Kapoor, chief people officer, Fortis Healthcare, as independent non-executive directors to its board, VCCircle reported.
Lakshman has 17 years of experience in the e-commerce logistics space. Between 1999 and 2015, he held multiple roles at Amazon in the areas of transportation, technology and logistics. Most recently, he served as vice president of Amazon’s worldwide transportation strategy, technology and customer returns. He is currently president of the fulfilment division at the US-based Sears Holdings Corporation.
Kapoor has around 30 years of experience in human resources and legal roles and has previously worked with companies such as DCM, Goodyear and JCB.
Viacom18 appoints Saugato Bhowmik as head of its Integrated Network Solutions business
Viacom18, has announced the appointment of Saugato Bhowmik as head of its integrated network solutions business unit, Exchnage4media reported. Bhowmik, who takes over from Jaideep Singh, will continue to head the consumer products business line at Viacom18. He has over 14 years of experience in FMCG Sales & Marketing, primarily with Hindustan Unilever. As part of his mandate at Viacom 18, he led the development of brands like Dora, Spongebob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among others.
