Eros Now launches its services on Amazon Fire TV

Bollywood production house Eros International has launched its video streaming platform Eros Now on Amazon Fire TV. Eros Now’s collection of Bollywood and regional language films, music and originals will be available on-demand to Amazon Fire TV users across US, UK, and Western Europe.

Its services are currently available through a desktop website and a mobile app. Eros Now features movie titles in Hindi, Tamil, and other Indian languages; TV shows from 5 different channels. It also offers online streaming of music across genres like India folk, devotional, ghazals, regional music, etc.

Amazon Fire TV currently claims to have aggregated over 4,000 channels, apps, and games including over 250,000 TV episodes and movies from Netflix, Amazon Video, HBO GO, Hulu. Eros Now’s content will now be accessible via Amazon Fire console box that can stream content across smart TVs, tablets, phones, etc.

Malaysia launch: Last month, ErosNow had forayed into Malaysia through partnerships with two local telco; Maxis Berhad and U Mobile. Through this deal, Eros’ app will be available to prepaid and postpaid users of  both telcos for RM10 (~$2.6) per month.

30 million users: In the August 2015, ErosNow announced that it crossed 30 million registered users as of September 30th 2015. For the quarter ended June 30, the company had reported 26.5 million users. It’s worth noting that Eros does not disclose monthly active users and the revenues earned from the digital service.

Financials: In Februaury, Eros International’s total revenues decreased 39.74% to $60.5M in Q3 FY16. It reported digital & ancillary revenues of $22.2 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2015, registering an increase of 4.23% from $21.3 million in the same quarter last year.

Other content partnerships

-In January Idea Cellular entered into a platform and content deal with ErosNow, allowing Idea 4G customers to watch movies, originals and short form videos at Rs 49 per month, a discount from the regular price of Rs 99 per month.

In October 2015, Eros had tied up with Ortel Communications, a multi system operator (MSO) and ISP, to offer a subscription based movie streaming service called Ortel Broadband Movies.

In August last year, Eros had also entered into a partnership to offer movie and video content from Eros Now and other partners on Airtel’s Wynk app.

– In July, Eros also decided to produce its own original shows, which could be streamed on the Eros Now platform.

-In June 2015, ErosNow  partnered with WeChat to its users to listen to music, watch videos and get Bollywood gossip and news through its official channel on the messaging platform.

-In the same month, Eros inked a content acquisition deal with Pakistan’s Hum TV, wherein Eros Now added Hum TV’s entire TV library including its TV shows.

-In August last year,  ErosNow signed a partnership to acquire the worldwide rights of select Zee TV shows, giving it access to episodes from Zee TV’s soaps & reality shows.

– In May last year, Eros inked a content deal with from Colors television channel and got access to shows like Balika Vadhu, Uttaran, Sasural Simar Ka, Beintehaa, Rangrasiya, Sanskaar (Season 2), Madhubala, Comedy Nights with Kapil and Khatron Ke Khiladi.
