Viacom18 has appointed Narayan Ranjan as its chief of staff, from his current CFO role. Ranjan will look after mergers and acquisitions, internal audit & control and admin at the group level. It has also promoted Soumen Ray from deputy CFO to CFO. Ranjan and Ray join their roles on 15 April 2016. Ranjan joined Viacom18 in 2004 to head its finance, before which he was the VP and head of financial and commercial functions at Star News for 2.5 years. Prior to that he was the VP of finance at Star India for 3.5 years and a senior research executive at Shriram Asset Management for over 1.5 years. Ray joined Viacom18 as deputy CFO in 2013, before which he was the GM of finance at Hindustan Unilever Limited for almost 6 years. He’s also worked as commercial manager at ITC for 4 years and as finance manager at Eveready Industries for about 6 years. COO appointment: In July 2015, Viacom18 appointed Gaurav Gandhi as its chief operating officer starting 1 August, and also launched a new digital business called Viacom18 Digital Ventures. Gandhi joined to Viacom18 from IndiaCast, which is the joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18, where he was the group COO for over 3 years.
