Internet-based live streaming platform YuppTV has partnered with Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) to provide digital content from Zee’s &TV channel. This will include content like movies and TV shows played on the channel, which will be available to all YuppTV users.

Note that earlier this month, YuppTV had also partnered with NDTV to provide live digital content from four channels including NDTV India, NDTV 24×7 and NDTV Profit/Prime and NDTV Good Times. Other than this, its current content partners include Times Now, ET NOW, ETV Network, Sahara, Sun Group, News X, Zoom, TV Today, Maa, ABN, India TV and 9XM.

YuppFlix launch: In December last year, YuppTV launched YuppFlix, an on demand movie streaming service in all its regions of operation. YuppFlix offers more than 5,000 movies (overall 25,000 hours of content) across different genres in 12 languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Punjabi and Kannada.

The same month, the company also launched a new category of curated user generated content called YuppTV Bazaar. YuppTV Bazaar curates user generated content and verifies it for originality, quality and other factors to ensure that users get only quality content. Once the content is approved, it will be listed on YuppTV, with 70% of the advertising revenue shared with the corresponding content creators.

YuppTV launched its services in April last year first in metro cities, and then expanded to other cities. The same month, the company raised $2.5 million from angel investor Sashi Reddi. As of now, it claims to list over 200 TV channels, 5000 movies, and over 100 shows in 12 different languages.

Zee’s focus on digital: Last week Zee Digital launched a new video on demand platform called OZEE which streams movies, TV shows, videos and music. As of now, users can use the platform for free, and don’t even have to login to view content. The company also recently acquired 80% majority in India Group companies, Today Merchandise and Today Retail Network, both of which have been working on creating a retail TV channel and an ecommerce website to complement the network.
