SBricks acquires Melway

SBricks, a home cleaning and laundry service provider, has acquired Melway, a facility management and services company, for an undisclosed amount. Both companies are Hyderabad based. SBricks gets 200 home cleaning professionals, the brand equity and client base from the acquisition. The company also gets access to 6,000 offline service centres through Melway. Melway will keep its trade name and existing team structure and the companies will conduct joint operations.

SBricks claims to process 125 orders every day, aiming to hit 300 every day in the next few months. It also claims to have a client base (including Big Cinemas, Asian Movies etc) of over 5,000, expected to touch 10,000 in the next 6 months. The company plans to expand in Hyderabad first and then to cities in South India. It operates in 5 cities and started operations in April this year.


UrbanClap expands to Hyderabad

Online services marketplace UrbanClap has launched operations in Hyderabad, with plans to launch in 10 more cities with 100 service categories in the next 6 months. As of now it offers services in 80 categories like photographers, dieticians and web designers and operates in Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune.

Earlier this month, the company raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Ratan Tata in his personal capacity, less than a month after the startup raised Rs 165 crore from Bessemer Venture Partners and existing investors Accel Partners and SAIF. It said it would also double its employee count and acquire other companies. UrbanClap had also raised $10 million in a round of funding from existing investors in June and raised seed funding of around $1.5 million (Rs 10 crore) in April.


Aspiring Minds acquires Letsintern

Aspiring Minds, an evaluation and certification company, has acquired online internship platform Letsintern for an undisclosed amount, reports NextBigWhat. According to the report, Letsintern will continue operating independently with its 12 member team.

Letsintern, which provides online skills assessment and internships and job listings, claims to have 4 million users and 22,000 companies on its platform. It also claims to have had clients in Uber, Leo Burnett, Reliance Industries, Amazon, Housing and Zomato among others. The company was an “Impact Award Winner” in an Innovation Challenge in India on Facebook’s net neutrality violating platform Free Basics, along with other startups.

Aspiring Minds had previously acquired software development company Mizcoin. It claims to have partners in EdX, LinkedIn, Monster, NSDC and Ekal Vidyalaya and investments from Ajit Khimji Group and Omidyar Network.
