Saavn appoints Gaurav Wadhwa as VP of entertainment & original content
Saavn has hired Gaurav Wadhwa as vice president of entertainment and original content, reports exchange4media. Wadhwa will be responsible for the development of new content verticals and head Saavn’s initiatives to expand beyond mainstream music, into sports, comedy and other such channels.
Prior to Svaan, Wadhwa was a senior marketing consultant at PepsiCo where he was responsible for leading the Pepsi MTV Indies program. He also worked at MTV to develop music programming and brand solutions in the country. Note that Saavn had raised series C funding worth $100 million led by Tiger Global, with participation from existing investors in July, when it hinted that it would expand in the entertainment category.
Zopper appoints Ambrish Sinha and Abhishek Aditya
Hyperlocal marketplace Zopper has appointed Ambrish Sinha as senior VP and head of sales, reports afaqs. Prior to Zopper, Sinha was the head of third party distribution at Reliance Life Insurance. The startup also appointed Abhishek Aditya as head of operations. Before this, Aditya was the senior director of logistics at Delhivery.
Zopper has been hiring top management positions in recent times. Last month it appointed Ambrish Sinha as its sales head, while it September, it appointed Harneet Singh as its chief business officer. Note that, in June, Zopper raised $20 million in a Series B round of funding from Tiger Global and Nirvana Ventures Advisors. The platform had said then that it would use the funds for making ’key’ appointments and for expansion and technology development.
Shuttl hires Amit Kumar Gupta as head of engineering
Gurgaon-based bus aggregation platform Shuttl has appointed Amit Kumar Gupta as head of engineering, reports Vccircle. In his new role, Gupta will be responsible for building scalable systems and product development.
Prior to Shuttl, Gupta served as the director of the technology team at Snapdeal, where he was responsible for building and maintaining the buyer, seller and data analytics platforms. Note that last month, Shuttl had appointed Venkatesh Rangachari as head of growth. Founded in April this year, the company currently claims to average around 15,000 rides per day in the Delhi-NCR region.
Uniphore appoints Samith Ramachandran & M Thamarai Selvi
Chennai-based speech recognition startup Uniphore Software has appointed Samith Ramachandran as vice president and head of professional services and M Thamarai Selvi as director of marketing and communications, reports Vccircle. Prior to Uniphore, Ramachandran has worked with Siemens, Subex and Flytxt, while Selvi has experience with BPCL, Asian Paints, IBM and Wipro.
In June this year, Uniphore had raised an undisclosed amount of funding from IDG Ventures, with participation from existing investor YourNest Angel Fund, barely a month after it raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and other existing investors. Founded in 2008, Uniphore offers speech-based solutions for various industries like banking, agriculture, healthcare, education, retail, government, insurance and others.
Lotame hires Alex Sibois as MD for APAC region
Lotame, an independent data management platform, has appointed Alex Sibois as the managing director for Asia Pacific (APAC) region. He will report directly to Lotame CRO Kevin Kohn and will be based out of Singapore.
Prior to Lotame, Sibois was the director at Xpandeo for over 6 years, before which he was advisor at Avocarrot. He also worked as special advisor at SIEN Solutions and was a mentor at the Seedcamp accelerator. Note that in October Lotame appointed Gaurav Seth as country manager for India, where he would be responsible for integrating digital platforms for Lotame’s clients.
