JustDial’s chief technology officer Sandipan Chattopadhyay is resigning with effect from 31st of December, the company mentioned in a notification (pdf) to the BSE. JustDial mentions that he may continue to advise the company in technical matters. Chattopadhyay has been the CTO at JustDial for the past 7 years, prior to which he owned E Dot Solutions for 9 years. The company is yet to name a successor.
Revamped mobile app: In September, Just Dial launched the new version of its Search Plus app which integrates 24 services. The revamped app features an updated user interface and features large tiles for each category. The app also features a voice search option to find results on the app, other than a loyalty points system.
JustDial financials: The company reported a net profit increase of 47.03% year-on-year to Rs 46.3 crore from Rs 31.49 crore for the quarter ending September 30 (Q2-FY16). Adjusted operating EBITDA was Rs 46.93 crore, up 3% from Rs 45.78 crore last year. JustDial’s overall listings grew 9% to 15.8 million from 14.5 million listings in the same period last year. On a sequential basis, the company reported overall listings growth of 3.26% from 15.3 million. Total income increased to Rs 171.27 crore during the quarter growing 16.9% from Rs 147.4 crore in the same quarter last year.
JD Cash delayed: In June, Justdial founder & MD VSS Mani said that “JD Cash is almost done, but I think we would delay it by one (more) quarter to launch it.” At the time, the company said that the beta version of JD Cash was ready and that it was testing it. However, the quarter has come and gone and the platform is yet to be released.
In August last year, Justdial had first said that it was planning to introduce JD Cash, a payments platform integration for its Search Plus suite of services. Earlier this year, Mani had said that they were looking to launch JD Cash sometime between April-June 2015, during the company’s Q3-FY15 earnings conference call.
