InnerChef has appointed Sanjeev Singhal as its chief technology officer, reports VCCircle. Singhal served as the CTO at Iprof Learning Solutions, an e-learning company, for over 3 years, before which he was the CTO at Reliance Entertainment’s BIGFlix for over 5 years.
He also headed technology at the India Today Group Digital for a short while, and head of technology of ecommerce at Times Internet Limited for over 6 years. Prior to that, Singhal was working as the chief manager of systems & database at Informica for almost 3 years, and as chief manager at Indian Express Newspapers for almost 8 years.
In September, InnerChef raised $1.6 million in pre-series A funding led by Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Phanindra Sama and Anupam Mittal, with participation from Vishal Gondal, Murugavel Janakiraman, Dinesh Agarwal, Neeraj Roy, Roshan Abbas, Teru Sato, Atsushi Tiara, Hiro San and TA Venture. InnerChef said it would use the funds for expansion and launching 10 new centers in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
Currently based in NCR, the firm wants to get together 100,000 home bakers across 100 Indian cities within a year. It was also in the process of launching ‘Indulge’, a dessert only marketplace, across 6 cities in the next three months. It was also in the process of launching a platform of serving for bakers for directly reaching out to the customers.
The company was founded by Rajesh Sawhney, Bal DiGhent, Heena Karia Thakkar, Uday Bansal and Rahul Samat in April 2015. It serves products in two variants: ready to cook and ready to eat and was modeled after US based Blue Apron.
