Freecharge lets Mumbai Metro users to top up their smart cards Snapdeal-owned digital payments service Freecharge has launched an online recharge facility for smart card users of Mumbai Metro. With the new integration, Freecharge will enable Smart Card recharges on its website, Android, iOS and Windows app. Customers need to enter their unique smart card number which will lead to the payments gateway. Once the recharge is successful, they will receive a message or mail. Earlier in September, Freecharge launched a digital wallet which would provide mobile and web transactions by facilitating payments, in partnership with private sector lender YES Bank. The wallet would enable payments for consumers using technologies such as host card emulation (HCE), near field communications (NFC), QR codes and Bluetooth low energy (BLE). *** MobiKwik ties up with OYO Rooms and Zomato Digital wallet player MobiKwik has tied up with budget branded hotel chain OYO Rooms and online food service Zomato for mobile payments. MobiKwik also mentioned that it is creating an offline retail network of more than 100,000 merchants across India that will serve both, as points for cash loading into the wallet and for wallet payments acceptance. In May, MobiKwik had tied up with ICICI Bank to allow its wallet users to add cash at any ICICI Bank branch.
