Twitter appoints Sonali Malviya as business marketing head

Social networking platform Twitter has appointed Sonali Malaviya as its country business marketing head for India, reports IndianTelevision. In her new role, she will report out of the Delhi office directly to Twitter international marketing director Frederique Covington.

Note that earlier this week Twitter had appointed Jack Dorsey for his second term as CEO. . In July, Twitter appointed Mahima Kaul to lead its public policy in India. In August, the company appointed Viral Jani as TV Partnerships head in India. He would lead strategic collaboration with TV channels to increase audience engagement on Twitter.

Flipkart hires new head of taxation and CFO for commerce

Flipkart has appointed Sriram Venkataraman as the CFO for its commerce platform and Pramod Jain as VP and head of taxation. In his new role Venkataraman will head all aspects of the finance functions for the commerce platform as well as drive its business and strategy.

Earlier this year, Flipkart appointed Puneet Soni as its chief product officer, joining from Motorola Mobility. In April, the company also appointed Peeyush Ranjan as Head of Engineering, joining from Google. Mayur Datar, also from Google, joined the company as its Principal Data Scientist the same month. Note that last month, Mekin Maheshwari, one of the earlier employees at Flipkart and its Chief People Officer, was to move to an advisory role at the company.

Housing appoints Keerthi Kiran as VP of realty projects division

Realty portal Housing has appointed Keerthi Kiran as the vice president of its new real estate projects division, reports the ET. Kiran has been with housing for nearly 2 years before being promoted to this role.

Note that in August, Housing laid off over 160 employees citing that it needed to focus on its core products. Last month the company acquired Plat, a startup that operates as an online network for agents allowing them to share real estate inventories and requirements. It had also acquired BigBHK, a property management software targeted at rentals suppliers. Other than this, Housing also acquired sales lifecycle management HomeBuy360 for $2 million, the Delhi-based real estate analytics portal Realty Business Intelligence for an estimated $2-4 million and the realty-focused online community Indian Real Estate Forum (IREF) for Rs 8 crore.

ShopClues appoints Gyanesh Sharma as AVP – engineering

ShopClues has appointed former PayU India’s director of engineering Gyanesh Sharma as AVP of engineering, reports the ET. In his new role, Sharma will be responsible for the technology of the company. Last month ShopClues appointed Arun Goel as its Vice President for products. Goel’s focus in the new role would be on developing scalable, robust, intuitive and easy-to-use products.

Earlier in January, ShopClues raised $100 million investment led by Tiger Global with participation from existing investors Helion Venture Partners and Nexus Venture Partners. Subsequently, the company launched a hyperlocal feature called Neighbourhood Market in August.
