Industry moves: Little, Flipkart, Vibrant Media & more

Little appoints Amisha Sethi as CMO

amisha sethiOnline deals marketplace Little has appointed Amisha Sethi as its chief marketing officer. As the CMO, Sethi will be in charge of brand building, customer acquisition and building a marketing team. Sethi worked as the global CMO and APAC CEO of Zafin Vancouver for a short while, before which she worked as the chief commercial officer at AirAsia for about a year. Sethi has also worked at BlackBerry in various managerial and director positions for about 4 years, before which she worked as the India marketing manager at Airtel for over 4 years.

The company has also appointed Suraj Panigrahy as VP of sales and merchant acquisition and Wishy Arora as the VP of products. In July, Paytm invested $50 million along with investors SAIF Partners and Tiger Global Management for establishing the online to offline app-only marketplace Little. The company was started by Manish Chopra and Satish Mani. The company claims to have already enrolled over 8,000 merchants offering 27,000 deals in 11 cities. By March 2016, the company says that it will offer over 50,000 deals across restaurants, movies, hotels, salons, gyms and spas.

Flipkart hires Ram Papatla as VP of product management

Flipkart has hired Ram Papatla as VP of product management, reports VCCircle. Papatla will be responsible for customer experience by focusing on content and product info and report to chief product officer Punit Soni. Previously, Papatla has worked as the director of product management and marketing at Amazon for a year, before which he worked at Microsoft in various positions for almost 16 years. Before that, he worked as the lead web systems architect at Thoughtfarm Technologies for almost 2 years and as a developer consultant at Cincinnati Financial Corporation for less than a year.

Vibrant Media appoints Karthik Lakshminarayan as VP

Reliance Industries’ Vibrant Media has appointed Karthik Lakshminarayan as vice president, reports Indiantelevision. The report added that he will be working on a media strategy for Reliance Jio and report to Vibrant Media’s SVP Nikhil Dave. Lakshminarayan will join the company next month. He worked as the COO of Madison Communications for about 3 years, before which he was the COO of Crest for over a year. He also worked in the same position at Turmeric Vision for a year, head of commercial and business development at Fremantle Media and the head of India marketing and international business at Sahara One. His other work places include Viacom18, Initiative Media, Chaitra Leo Burnett and Stratagem Media.

HackerRank appoints Grady Burnett as president and COO

HackerRank has appointed Grady Burnett as its president and COO, reports ET. Burnett will look at global operations, with a special focus on India. Burnett worked as the COO of Flurry Inc for 2 years, before which he was the VP of global sales and operations at Facebook for over 6.5 years. Prior to that, he worked at Google as the online sales and operations director for almost 4 years, marketing manager at Intuit, VP of North America agency sales at DoubleClick, and as a professional tennis player for about 3 years. HackerRank was founded by Vivek Ravisankar and Harishankaran Karunanidhi in 2012.

ShopClues appoints Gyanesh Sharma as AVP of engineering

ShopClues has appointed Gyanesh Sharma as AVP of engineering, to lead the company’s tech vertical, reports ET. Sharma will be responsible for developing a cloud based ecommerce platform. Previously, he has worked at PayU as the director of engineering, before which he was the head of engineering at the same company. Prior to that, he worked as a software architect at SPAlgo, on the technical staff at Clearsense, and as a software engineer at Auptyma.
