Telecom operator Bharti Airtel’s mobile commerce subsidiary Airtel Money‘s total values of transactions in Africa has grown 13.1% to $3.76 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2015 from $3.33 billion, last quarter.
The total customer base using the Airtel Money platform increased by 20% to 8.4 million as compared to 7 million last quarter, while the total number of transactions during the quarter has more than doubled to 241.4 million as compared to 198.2 million last quarter.

– Average amount transacted per customer: $447.9, down 5.7% sequentially, down 29% year on year.
– Average Number of transactions per customer: 28.7, up 1.5% sequentially, up 16.1% year on year.
– Average amount per transaction: $15.6, down 7.1% sequentially, down 38.9% year on year.
Airtel Money’s customer base is up 58.5% year on year, so, with time, it’s likely customers will transact higher amounts.
