Snapdeal appoints Hardeep Singh as infrastructure head

Snapdeal has appointed Hardeep Singh as its head of infrastructure, where Singh will be responsible for Snapdeal’s supply chain strategies, network design, infrastructure and special projects, reports VCCircle.

Before joining Snapdeal, Singh worked as the head of supply chain and infrastructure at Bharti Retail for 7 months, before which he was the SVP of the same function at Bharti Retail for over a year. He also worked as the SVP or supply chain and logistics at Bharti Walmart, before which he was the CEO of Inlogistics for 2.5 years. Singh has also worked at Unilever as a regional category planning director, the national customer service manager of modern retail, and as a regional commercial manager for about 6 years. Prior to that, he has worked as a planning manager at Asian Paints for 4 years and as the SC process control manager at Madura Fashion & Lifestyle for 2 years.

Most recently, Snapdeal hired former TaxiForSure chief technology officer Amitava Ghosh as vice president of engineering last month. In July, it appointed Govind Rajan as its chief strategy officer. In the same month, Snapdeal appointed Amit Choudhary as the senior vice president of corporate finance. Other top level hires include:

Dharmendra Panwar as VP of internal controls and risk assurance,

Anand Chandrasekaran as its chief product officer,

Gaurav Gupta as VP of engineering,

Jayant Sood as chief customer experience officer,

Idi Srinivas Murthy as its senior VP of marketing,

Vivek Patankar as senior VP of Finance and

Dharmarajan K as the head of customer experience.

Snapdeal’s chief financial officer Aakash Moondhra quit the company. In February, Snapdeal CTO and Senior VP of Engineering Amitabh Misra resigned after about 3.5 years with the e-commerce marketplace. The ecommerce company also hired Yahoo India R&D Division and Amazon India executive Jeyandran Venugopal.

Paytm appoints Nitin Misra as VP of Payments

Paytm has appointed Nitin Misra as VP of payments business, reports ET. Misra will head the product pipeline for Paytm’s core payments business. Before Paytm, Misra worked as the general manager of Southwest Asia for content and services at Samsung Electronics for 1.5 years, as the Southeast Asia and India director of marketing at Nuance Communications for 2.5 years and as the head of new product development marketing of India and South Asia at Bharti Airtel.

Prior to that, Misra also worked as the marketing deputy general manager of VAS and incubation, senior manager of customer communication and service branding as well as the national manager for service training and organisation development at Airtel. He has also worked with NIIT, GE Capital, Kshitij Studios and as a training consultant before that.

According to the ET report, Paytm plans to separate the e-commerce and payments businesses under a new arm Paytm Payment Bank, which will handle all of the company’s payments businesses, including the Paytm wallet. Last month, the company claimed to cross 100 million users in the country with over 75 million transactions every month.

Housejoy appoints Saran Chatterjee as CEO

Home services marketplace Housejoy has appointed Saran Chatterjee as its CEO. Chatterjee, who resigned after being Flipkart’s VP of products for 3 years in June, will help Housejoy’s services and cities expansion, with a focus on consumer experience. Before Flipkart, Chatterjee worked in different positions at Yahoo for 6 years, before which he worked as a marketing consultant at OmegaMobile for a year, as a project lead at Fujitsu for 4 years, a consultant with Mobileframe for 2 years, before which he worked in software product development at Fujitsu for 3 years.

Housejoy claims to have made over 800,000 bookings, and around 4,000 orders daily under services like plumbing, electrical, computer repair, beauty and bridal makeup.
