Goibibo launches aggregator for unbranded hotels called GoStays

Online travel site Goibibo has launched a new section on its website and mobile app called GoStays which aggregates unbranded budget accommodations across India. The platform is live in 72 cities, 862 properties and according to the company ​​this translates to about 10,000 rooms per day for customers to choose from.

GoStays will also be available to book on various Goibibo network comprising : redBus, TBO, SeatSeller, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, Citibank Premier Miles etc.

GoStays says that rooms booked in the service will provide Wifi, breakfast, AC, television and hygienic washrooms. Bookings are also backed by a moneyback guarantee. Goibibo also says that travellers get to stay in exactly the property and location that they have booked and the company says that this is a guarantee they take to help bridge trust deficit.

Minority stake in Djubo

It’s worth noting that the Ibibo Group acquired minority stake in hotel tech startup Djubo last month. Djubo provides an app-based centralized reservation platform. It also offers mobile friendly website templates for hotels along with a booking engine and payment gateway and provides online channel management for  automated integrations with multiple travel aggregators. At the time Djubo founder Tarun Gulati had told MediaNama that they would be integrating the product across all of Naspers and Ibibo’s travel portals.

Mobile bookings exceed desktop

For the quarter ended March 31 (Q4FY15), GoIbibo claimed that 57% of its hotel bookings came via mobile, while desktop accounted for 43% hotel bookings.  Out of the mobile bookings, GoIbibo said that 70% were done through Android, 20% through iOS, 3% through Windows phones and 7% via mobile web for the same time frame.

Sprylogics tie up

In March last year, Online travel site GoIbibo tied up with Sprylogics to integrate its travel booking and information services into the mobile local search app Poynt and its SDK. Goibibo would provide local travel content that would allow Poynt and Poynt-Enabled SDK users to book hotels and flight tickets, search and locate hotels near them and find flights without leaving the app. Poynt had then claimed to have over 25 million downloads across five platforms with 1.3 million active users.
