Digital media group SVG Media has started a new business unit called GoVentures.in and has launched an online pest control services portal called PestControlGo.com. The website began its services in 28 cities across India and has partnered with Hicare, a HACCP certified pest control service provider in India.
PestControlGo has also tied-up with other local pest control services in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. Unlike other players in the services market place and lead generation, PestControlGo says that it will link customers to a maximum of three credible service providers to prevent spamming. “Other online services do not restrict the number of calls made to a customer, leading to harassment and spamming of service seekers,” the startup said in a press release.
GoVentures is also launching to new portals aimed at disrupting the insurance and banking sector. It has a portal called GetInsuredGo.com live which allows users to compare insurance quotes online. It also plans to launch a portal for automotive test drives. GoVentures was founded Nitin Sabharwal and Saurabh Singhania.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Sabharwal had earlier started a strategic business unit at DGM India called nNext.in, a performance advertising platform. Prior to Goventures, Saurabh started of his digital marketing career with DGM India, and during his 5 years served under multiple roles of sales, delivery, client servicing and product head.
PestControlGo has taken an interesting approach to on demand services as they want to focus just on pest control. Other players, such as Housejoy, LocalOye and Timesaverz , try to give consumers an option for everything from electricians to yoga instructors in addition to pest control services and perhaps this is why they have not been able to scale rapidly and present only in a few cities. A singular focus on a vertical is possibly why PestControlGo have been able to launch in 28 cities across India.
PestControlGo’s decision to provide only three leads for customers might be a little limiting on choice. If all three were unsatisfactory, what’s stopping customers from going to other directory services like JustDial and AskLaila? Also typically in on demand services, lead generation is their main source of revenue when service providers pay a certain amount of money for a number of leads. Giving only three options could also curtail the number of other local businesses it could tie-up with.
