Industry Moves: Hike, Snapdeal and Twitter India

Hike appoints Vidur Vyas as VP of marketing, Sumit Mehra as Studio Head

Messaging company Hike has appointed Vidur Vyas as VP of marketing and Sumit Mehra as studio head. Vyas will be responsible for Hike’s marketing initiatives, brand positioning and alliances; whereas Mehra will be responsible for game strategy, development and production. Both Vyas and Mehra will report to Hike’s CEO and founder Kavin Mittal.

Vyas was the senior director of marketing at Pepsico for 5 years, before which he worked as the category management director for over 2.5 years at the same company. At Pepsico, his other roles included being a category manager, regional manager and sales development manager, taking the total number of years he worked there above 12. Vyas has also worked with Accenture, Colgate Palmolive and Tata Motors in consultant and managerial profiles.

Mehra worked as a general manager at Zynga for 4 years, before which he was the studio manager at Jump Games for 9 months. He has also worked as a program manager at Microsoft for almost 5 years, in the same position at EA for a short time, development manager at Paradox Studios for 4.5 years and as a programmer at Netillennium Technologies for over a year.


Snapdeal appoints Viraj Chatterjee as VP of Engineering

eCommerce giant Snapdeal has appointed Viraj Chatterjee as the VP of Engineering. Chatterjee will lead Snapdeal’s technology development solutions to enhance its seller experience. Chatterjee has previously worked with Adobe Systems for 16 years, where he was the director of engineering. Snapdeal said in its blog post that its technology team consisted of 1,000 people currently, which it was looking to double by the end of this year.


Twitter appoints Viral Jani as TV Partnerships head in India

Twitter India has appointed Viral Jani as head of TV partnerships, reports ET. He will lead strategic collaboration with TV channels to increase audience engagement on Twitter. Jani will also work closely with broadcasters, production houses and audience measurement systems, to bring content from TV to Twitter.

Jani worked as the head of TV strategy and social media at Times Now, ET Now and Zoom for almost 5 years, before which he was the AVP of research and strategic planning at Sahara One for a short duration. He has also worked with NDTV as senior manager of strategic planning for 6 years and as a media planning executive at GroupM for a year.
