Mobile global news aggregation service News Republic has entered into a strategic agreement with Times Internet's* cricket portal Cricbuzz which will give News Republic app users access to the latest cricket news and scores of all matches. Users on News Republic can now read the Cricbuzz content i.e. news and latest scores side-by-side. They can share content with a single tap and save stories offline. News Republic launched the India editions of its general news app News Republic and tech news app Appy Geek in May. Former digital products head at The Hindu Radhika Shukla was appointed News Republic’s India Country Director. News Republic app delivers fully licensed articles, photos and videos from over 1,500 leading news organizations around the world. In India, News Republic has partnered with Hindustan Times, India Today, Aaj Tak, Business Today, New Indian Express, Oneindia, BBC, India.com among others. Its apps also incorporate RSS feeds to cover specialized reader interests. News Republic claims that it shares 50,000 unique articles daily and generates the reading of half a billion articles monthly. The app also claims 12 million users. Earlier this month, Cricbuzz secured sponsorship rights for Sri Lanka vs India 2015 Test Series. In January, Times Internet merged its cricket site GoCricket with Cricbuzz and users to GoCricket were redirected to Cricbuzz. The company also merged the mobile apps of GoCricket & Cricbuzz. In November 2014, Times Internet bought a majority stake in CricBuzz and said that it would be using CricBuzz’s expertise in the cricket segment along with its editorial content across text, photos, and videos.
