Industry moves digest: Tata Teleservices, Ola, SoftBank and Edureka

Tata Teleservices appoints Anuraag Srivastava as CFO

Telecom service provider Tata Teleservices has appointed Anuraag Srivastava as its chief financial officer. Srivastava joins from Indus Towers where he was the senior VP of internal audit and assurance for a year. Previously, he worked as the VP of finance and treasury at the same company for over 3 years. Before that, he worked as the finance controller at GSK Consumer Healthcare for about 1.5 years. He also served as the CFO of Future Axiom Telecom at the Future Group for 2 years, before which he was the general manager of finance at GSK for almost 12 years. Prior to that, he worked as an ABS senior at Price Waterhouse for 3 years.


Ola appoints Arun Sarin as independent board director

Online cab company Ola has appointed Arun Sarin as an independent director to its board of directors. Sarin was the CEO of the Vodafone Group for 5 years and serves as an advisor on the boards of Cisco Systems, Charles Schwab, Blackhawk Networks and Safeway, Inc. He also served as a senior advisor at the private equity firm KKR.

deep nisharSoftBank names Deep Nishar as MD of SG Group US

SoftBank has appointed Deep Nishar as the managing director of SG Group US (formerly known as SoftBank Internet & Media) reports VCCircle. Nishar will report to president and COO of SoftBank Group Nikesh Arora. Arora was the CEO of SG Group US before he was appointed as the COO of SoftBank. Nishar will be responsible for SoftBank’s international investments and counsel as well as support companies in SoftBank’s portfolio.

Nishar has been serving on the board of directors at TripAdvisor and Opower for almost 2 years now. Before joining SoftBank, he worked as the senior vice president of products and user experience at LinkedIn for almost 6 years. Prior to that he was an investor and advisor at Spool and Adku for almost 2 years and 1.5 years respectively. He was also an investor in Aster Data for 4 years, a product advisor and investor at Aardvark (which was acquired by Google) for 2 years. He also worked as the senior director of products for Asia Pacific at Google for 5.5 years. Before this, he founded and acted as the VP of products at Patkai Networks for 2.5 years.

Edureka hires Durgesh Kaushik as CMO

Online education startup Edureka has hired Durgesh Kaushik as its chief marketing officer, reports ET. He will be responsible for scaling the startup’s digital marketing operations and global expansion. Kaushik joins Edureka from Facebook where he worked as the online marketing head for Asia Pacific for about 1.5 years. Before that, he was the country head of social media and SMB at Reliance Jio for less than a year. He also worked at Facebook before Jio, as the marketing manager for the EMEA region for over 1.5 years and the head of marketing at InfoStretch for about 2 years. Kaushik was also a strategy and technology consultant with Open Mind for a little over a year, and a researcher at NYU’s Stern School of Business. He has also been serving as an advisor at Reach: Access Files for the last 1.5 years.
