Itinerary planning portal TripHobo (formerly JoGuru) has partnered with travel price comparison platform Skyscanner  to allow users to compare prices of hotels, flights and car rentals. Under the deal, TripHobo will be using Skyscanner’s business APIs to provide real-time information about pricing of hotels, flights and taxis.

TripHobo, which offers user-created itineraries and curated content for 500 tourist cities across the world, also said that it is planning to add 18-20 thousand cities and towns on the platform in the next six months. The company claims that it currently offers more than 70,000 itineraries. The platform also claims to provide information for over 50,000 points of interests to help users plan their trip.

Earlier in March, the company raised $3 million in Series B funding from Mayfield and existing investor Kalaari Capital. The platform had previously raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Kalaari Capital in June last year.

Other players

– In April, MakeMyTrip acquired Helion Venture Partners-backed online travel planning service Mygola* for an undisclosed amount. And in May, MakeMytrip also picked up 18% in  Inspirock, an online planning tool for creating custom itineraries. The deal was done through MakeMyTrip’s innovation fund, although the size of the deal remains undisclosed.

– Routofy, a travel itinerary portal, raised, in March 2015, an undisclosed amount of funding from Snapdeal cofounders.

– Online Travel Agent Cleartrip.com, in 2010, re-introduced its travel guide Small World as a comprehensive mash-up, with partnerships with Yahoo, Flickr and Lonely Planet for content.

– The Ministry of Tourism launched another travel app called ‘Tripigator’ for Android. Tripigator is a travel-planning app that customises itinerary according to the user’s preferences such as budget, number of people travelling and month of travel. It also takes into account criteria such as trip type (premium, economic or luxurious), interests (adventure, wildlife etc.) and the energy level of the trip (relaxed, normal and active.)

– India.com, in 2014, launched a travel information lookup platform called iTripTo. iTripTo is a travel guide that provides users information for Indian destinations across categories like hill station, beaches, weekend getaways, adventure, nature, deserts, religious, historical, islands, leisure and wildlife among others. Users can also search for their preferred place to view more detailed information on it.
