Flipkart launches mobile app for merchants called ‘Seller Hub’

Ecommerce giant Flipkart has launched an app for sellers called the ‘Seller Hub’, reports ET Tech. The app is available for free to all users, however a seller’s registration on Flipkart is required to use it. As of now, the app is only available for Android users.

The app lets sellers get alerts on new orders, update stock count and pricing on listings and monitor payments and return. It also offers notifications when orders are placed and monitoring of payments and returns. The app appears to be in the nascent stages yet, with no features to check sales rank and other data, add new products or allow for direct messages to customers.

Another missing feature is that Flipkart Advantage inventory is not supported yet. Flipkart Advantage is a fulfillment service for sellers, where products are sourced from sellers and the company manages stocking, packing and shipment, similar to fulfilled by Amazon. As of now, the app also asks sellers for feedback, presumably to improve features based on this feedback.

Competition: Amazon also launched its seller app for its seller base in India earlier in March. This app let sellers access account related notifications, monitor status of FBA inbound shipments sent to Amazon warehouses, estimate the profitability of items before they are listed for sale and update their inventories, features currently missing in the Flipkart app. However, Amazon already had an international seller app which it simply enabled for Indian sellers as well. On the other hand, we expect Flipkart’s app to get better as it has time to mature.

Note that Snapdeal also offers a mobile app for sellers called the Snapdeal Seller Zone, which lets sellers manage inventory and pricing, view pending orders, monitor stock and competitor pricing among others. The platform had launched this app in July last year.
