India-Telecom-Data-Logo8The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators and has recently added Facebook and Reliance Jio as members), has reported an addition of 9.59 million GSM connections in February 2015, closing in at 697 million connections, a 1.40% increase from 687.4 million connections in the previous month.

GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata):

Coai Telco Feb 2015

– Airtel added 3.06 million connections in February, taking its connection base to 223.11 million.
– Idea Cellular added 2.69 million connections in February, taking its connection base to 155.45 million.
– Vodafone added 1.95 million connections in February, taking its connection base to 182.44 million.

Coai Circles Feb 2015

– Among metro circles, Chennai added 220,457 GSM connections, with Kolkata adding 206,386 GSM connections.

Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
