The top three telecom operators in India – Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular – added 7.72 million active connections in January 2015, accounting for 64% of active connections, and 83% of total active connections added.
Their growth is outpacing the rest, as, together, they accounted for more active connections during the month (83%) than all the telecom operators combined, since some of the rest (BSNL) lost connections.
Reliance Communications (RCOM), contributed very little to net additions, with only 0.28 million active connections added during the month. It still forms a significant part of the top four telecom operators, who together account for 76% of India’s active mobile connection base.
