Sun TV Network Ltd continues to maintain an uptrend in revenues, as its revenues grew by 9% to Rs 552 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, compared to Rs 509.02 crores last quarter and 508.34 crores during the same quarter last year. DTH revenue for the quarter ended stood at Rs 132.88 crore up 18% while the advertisement revenue for the quarter stood at Rs 291.57 crores up 7%, from the same quarter last year.

The total income for the quarter also registered an increase of 9.91% at Rs 575.03 crore in comparison to Rs 523.19 crores during the corresponding quarter last year. Overall the company posted a net profit of Rs 214.13 crores for the quarter as compared to Rs 185.79 crore for the corresponding quarter last year, an increase of 15% YoY.

Financials

EBITDA during Q3-FY15 increased for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, registering an increase of 15.07% at Rs 428.07 crores, as compared to Rs 372.03 crores for the corresponding quarter last year.

The net profit (PAT) also increased by 15.25% for the quarter, at Rs 214.13 crores as compared to Rs 185.79 crores in the same quarter last year.

Other developments

Sun TV had previously inked agreements to offer content from on its television channel Sun TV on YouTube and iTunes globally on a pay-per-view basis in March last year. In addition to YouTube and iTunes, Sun TV has also tied-up with Mumbai-based Purple IFE Ltd to deploy its content as in-flight entertainment. In the past, Purple IFE has supplied regional content for in-flight entertainment to Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Air India, Ethihad, Jet Airways, Oman Air, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Gulf Air and Qatar Airways.

The network currently operates satellite television channels across four languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. It also operates FM radio stations across India, and owns the SunRisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL which it had won for an amount of Rs 85.02 crore per year, in October 2012.
