Nimble Wireless raises $500,000 from AngelPrime

Chennai-based IoT and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies firm Nimble Wireless has raised $500,000 in seed funding from the venture capital firm AngelPrime, reports Techcircle. The company will use the funds to expand its research & development and marketing capabilities, to develop new technologies.

Nimble Wireless provides M2M and connected wireless products and cloud-based software services for wireless connecting, controlling and managing assets to customers. Solutions offered include cold chain monitoring, asset monitoring solutions and energy monitoring solutions.

Cold chain monitoring is aimed at industries like pharmaceutical industry, transportation, livestock, data centers and food processing where temperature monitoring is critical. The monitoring is carried out through Nimble’s temperature monitoring modules Toucan and Sora devices, which can be attached to vehicles and other industrial machinery and monitored using desktop or mobile systems running Nimble’s wireless IRIS application.

Similarly asset monitoring solutions offered by the company users GPS, cellular and/or satellite based tracking to locate and/or safeguard assets. This solution comprises of three elements, a tracking device, a backend cloud based application and a cellular or satellite network for connectivity. The Toucan devices mentioned above are also used for asset tracking, along with the wireless IRIS application.

Energy monitoring solutions involve end-to-end solutions for monitoring, control, audit and management of energy usage. For this, the company offers a Telemetry device that can interface with inverters, solar charge controllers, backup battery, fuel level etc., and collect data. This data is then is uploaded to the backend server for further analysis and reporting, providing fault detection and theft detection among other things.

Founded in 2006 by Siva Sivakumar and Senthil Nathan, Nimble Wireless offers its services to verticals like telecom infrastructure, transportation and logistics, green energy and healthcare industries among others. The company currently counts Bhaskar Solar, Source Inc, Verizon Wireless, STTB, Medall, SREI, Texas Instruments and Sprint etc., among its partners and customers.
