Amazon India's e-commerce & price comparison portal Junglee has introduced gift cards on its platform. The company claims to offer over 1400 physical and more than 400 e-gift cards from around 180 brands and retailers like Amazon, Shoppers Stop, BookMyShow, Makemytrip, and Mainland China among others. The gift cards on offer are from categories such as apparel, footwear, beauty and health, watches and consumer electronics. Plus there are gift cards for holiday packages, short getaways, events, and experience packages including helicopter rides, sailing and golfing among others. Junglee will be delivering these gift cards to the receivers' home or email them if it's an e-card. Interestingly, among the gift cards on offer are those from smaller, local bookstores and restaurants such as Blossom Book House in Bangalore, Patang Revolving Restaurant and Saffron Restaurant in Ahmedabad, and Royal Feast-The Gourmet Box in Mumbai among others. It's worth noting that in December last year Amazon had picked up about 15% stake in Bangalore-based store-value-card solutions providers QwikCilver Solutions through its Singapore-based subsidiary Amazon Asia Pacific. QwikCilver claims to currently have retailer clients like Titan, Raymond, Shoppers Stop, Westside and Hidesign among others. It also operates an online gift card & gift vouchers store Giftbig.com, besides powering the gift card service for both Amazon and Flipkart. Also, this investment gave Amazon access to QwikCilver’s semi closed wallet system, which will allow them to offer customers a digital wallet service for purchases from the site.
