The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators and has recently added Facebook and Reliance Jio as members), has reported an addition of 8.87 million GSM connections in January 2015, closing in at 687.4 million connections, a 1.31% increase from 678.5 million connections in the previous month. GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata): - Airtel added 2.83 million connections in January, taking its connection base to 220.05 million. - Idea Cellular added 2.21 million connections in January, taking its connection base to 152.75 million. - Vodafone added 1.81 million connections in January, taking its connection base to 180.49 million. - Among metro circles, Delhi added 279,383 GSM connections, with Mumbai adding 203,731 GSM connections. Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
