Vserv has appointed Shailesh Varudkar as its Vice President – Global Business Operations. In his new role, Varudkar will be responsible for growing the company’s global business operations, with a focus on emerging markets.
It’s worth noting that Varudkar has been a consultant for Vserv since April last year. Prior to this, he had a stint 10 month stint with General Mobile Corporation, driving its product management for the emerging markets with a focus on South East Asia.
Before that, he was with Vodafone India for 17 and half years, wherein he was responsible for setting up and running the telco’s VAS team in India. He was also responsible for the telco’s product marketing, product management, relationships with device makers, OS makers and chipset manufacturers along with managing P&L for its devices vertical.
Vserv which recently transitioned into a smart data led mobile marketing platform, has been strengthening its team for quite some time now. Some of the recent appointments include:
– Pranab Punj as the Associate Vice President of Global Marketing in September last year. He would be responsible for its global marketing moves, brand positioning, events, PR and digital marketing.
– Former Reliance Jio executive Anurag Patnaik as its Senior Vice President – Product.
– A series of senior appointments across the Southeast Asia region in July last year. This included Eva Soputan as the country manager for Indonesia region, Rovy Rivera is the new Business Director for Philippines, Tony Kan as the Business Director for Malaysia, and Suwaree Yeesunyem as the new Business Development Director and Rati Otrakul as the Sales Director for Thailand.
Vserv had also tied-up with the Indonesian telecom operator PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL) last month to enable mobile entertainment companies in Indonesia to target more relevant audience in the country. It had also launched an e-commerce-focused re-targeting product called Vserv Smart RT in November 2014, that allows advertisers to re-target desktop users on mobile sites & apps, and re-target mobile site users on third-party apps.
