Even as the bottom ten telecom operators in India lost a total of 2.71 million connections in November 2010, the top three - Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular, added 5.96 million connections. The top 3 telecom operators together account for 64% of active connections and 58% of total connections in India. Their growth is outpacing the rest, as, together, they accounted for more active connections during the month (187%) than all the telecom operators combined, since some of the rest (Loop, BSNL and RCOM) lost connections. While Reliance Communications (RCOM), contributed significantly to the decline in active connections, losing 4.19 million active connections during the month, it still forms a significant part of the top four telecom operators, who together account for 76% of India's active mobile connection base.
