IT services company Cognizant has acquired the full-service digital marketing agency Cadient Group, which serves a wide range of life science companies in the biotechnology, consumer health, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The Times of India pegged the deal at $30 million, though further details about the deal weren't disclosed. Following this acquisition, over 100 specialists in the digital domain from Cadient, with expertise in brand strategy and planning, user-centered design, content development, multi-channel analytics and social, digital and mobile marketing, are expected to join Cognizant. The company will also gain Cadient’s digital assets and intellectual properties including the insights and analytics platform Reveal and the advocacy campaign management platform OneVoice. According to Cognizant, life science companies have increased their emphasis on web, social and mobile engagement while also leveraging data analytics for marketing and sales. With the acquisition of Cadient, which claims to have over 10 years of experience in providing digital strategy, marketing and analytics to the life science industry, the company will be able to offer integrated solutions by combining its expertise in digital and interactive solutions, to the industry. Cognizant’s healthcare and life science practice currently claims to serve 28 of the 30 top global pharmaceutical companies, 16 out of 20 health plans in the US, 4 of the top 5 pharmacy benefit management companies and 12 of the top 15 medical device companies.
