HomeLane, a Bangalore-based online marketplace for fixed furniture, has appointed Jayanth Mysore as its chief product officer. In his new role, Mysore will be responsible for heading the startup’s consumer experience aspect. Prior to HomeLane, Mysore was senior product manager at Google where he helped launch features in Maps, Analytics and Checkout. Before this he worked as an engagement manager in Diamond Management and Technology Consultants. He was also the principal software engineer at Motorola Labs between 1998 and 2004. Doowup acquisition: In September HomeLane acquired Doowup, a virtual home decor platform for an undisclosed amount. As part of the acquisition, Doowup’s founding team would join HomeLane. Doowup’s founder Vivek Seetharamanwas appointed as HomeLane’s new chief innovation officer. HomeLane funding: In February this year, HomeLane raised $4.5 million in funding from Sequoia Capital, with participation in individual capacity from Manipal Education and Medical Group’s Ranjan Pai and Manipal Global Education’s Mohandas Pai. Founded in August last year, HomeLane was originally the offline design firm Bello Interiors Pvt Ltd which was acquired by GrowthStory’s Meena and K Ganesh. Srikanth Iyer and Rama Harinath, the co-founders of Bello, stayed on board. HomeLane currently sells entertainment units, wardrobes, kitchen units, study tables, and shoe racks among other furniture items. Additionally, the company also offers customization services, help in planning interiors, etc. The company claims it delivers products within 4 weeks and provides a 3-year manufacturer warranty.
