Pepperfry partners with Evok

PepperFry logoFurniture and home products store Pepperfry has announced a partnership with Hindware Home Retail Private Limited (HHRPL), reports IndianTelevision.com. HHRPL operates under the brand name Evok, and currently has 19 retail outlets in major cities in India.

As per the terms of the agreement, Pepperfry will now showcase the entire line of furniture from Evok. The website, which currently claims to list more than 11000 furniture designs, showcases products from more than 70 furniture brands, including Nilkamal, Mudra, Spacewood, Durian, @Home and HomeTown among others.

Uber comes to four new cities

uber-logoOnline cab service Uber has launched in four new cities in India, namely Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Kolkata. The ridesharing service is now available in a total of 10 cities in India, making India its largest market outside the US. As a promotion of the launch, the service is currently offering 3 free rides worth Rs 200 each for new users signing up with the promo code ‘UBERLOVESINDIA’.

Uber had initially launched its services in India with Bangalore, which it then extended to include Hyderabad, New Delhi, Chennai, Pune and Mumbai. It currently competes with Olacabs, TaxiForSure and Meru among others.

Amazon announces multi-brand gift cards store

Amazon LogoAmazon.in has announced the launch of a Gift Cards Store, which the company claims lists more gift cards from more than 70 brands. Gift cards can be purchased for brands like Pantaloons, Nike, Landmark Stores, Titan, O2 Spa, Lakme Salon, Lifestyle and Dominos pizza, among others.

The gift cards can be ordered online using credit/debit cards and net banking which the company claims will be delivered in 4 working days for metro locations and 6 working days for non-metro locations. The cards can be redeemed only at the respective brand stores.

Sumant Srivathsan joins VivaKi as Brand Relations Manager

vivakiPublicis Groupe owned digital advertising solutions provider, VivaKi has hired Sumant Srivathsan as the Brand Relations Manager for India, reports exchange4media.com. Srivathsan will be responsible for the Client Services team based in India, and will report to the General Manager of VivaKi’s Asia-Pacific Activation Centre, Grace Liau.

Srivathsan has previously led the Account Management team at Picsean Media, was the Manager of Digital Channels at LoyaltyOne India, and was part of the founding teams for Google’s Direct Sales Operations and Microsoft Media Network in India. He has more than 10 years of experience in digital advertising and media.

Flipkart in exclusive partnership with ACK

ACKOnline marketplace Flipkart.com has entered into an partnership with Amar Chitra Katha to release the Amar Chitra Katha Ultimate Collection exclusively on its platform. The collection is priced at Rs 18,999 and comprises of 315 singles, 10 special comics and 13,000 pages of content by various authors.

According to the terms of the partnership, the book will be available exclusively via Flipkart for 1 year, till 13th of August 2015, after which the book will probably be available via bookstores and other websites.

Flipkart signs MoU with DGET

Flipkart-logoFlipkart has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Director General of Employment and Training, Minister of Labour and Employment, Govt of India to help Indian MSMEs scale their businesses by leveraging Flipkart’s marketplace platform.

As per the initiative Flipkart and DGET will impart training towards basics of selling, e-marketplaces, accounting, cataloging, logistics, order and returns management, customer handling and warehousing, among other things. On completing of the program, skilled participants will be awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Labour and will find employment opportunity with Flipkart or one of its business partners.

Urban Ladder launches UL Labs

urbanladder-logoBangalore-based online furniture store Urban Ladder is launching ‘UL Labs’, an initiative to work with digital startups from around the globe to develop solutions in various aspects of furniture buying.

Urban Storage, a wardrobe configurator app, is the first product released under the initiative. The app lets users choose different models, configurations, designs and finishes of a wardrobe and check the pricing relevant to their configuration. The app is available on Android and iOS. UL Labs is currently working on its next app, ‘Living Spaces’, which will let users customize sofas and other living room furniture.

Goibibo updates iOS and Android apps

goibiboOnline travel aggregator Goibibo.com has released ‘Mobile First’ personalization tools for its iOS and Android apps. The new tools bundled in the apps include GoFastPay, Mobile Sync, Traveller’s checklist and weather among others.

Checklist lets travelers create checklists of things to carry along, Fare Alerts lets a traveler keep an eye on airfare fluctuations via push notifications, GoFastPay lets travelers save their net-banking and card details on the app to use it for bookings on-the-go, and Hotel Shortlist lets users shortlist preferred hotels on the search results page.

The app now also provides weather forecasts regarding the traveler’s destination and lets users sync desktop bookings back to the mobile.

TastyKhana.in reveals ‘Express BOX’

TastyKhana-logoOnline food portal TastyKhana.in has introduced an ‘Express BOX’, to help restaurant owners receive orders in real time. When an order is placed on the website, the express box will display an alert. The order can be printed out at the push of a button which comes out in the form of kitchen order ticket – a standard restaurant ordering format.

The device itself houses a SIM card to receive orders and uses a thermal printer to reduce operational costs. The device is connected directly to the TastyKhana portal and on receiving orders will alert the restaurant via a blinking blue light and a loud beep tone. The device is currently installed in at least 14 Eatsome outlets in Pune.
