FlipClass raises Rs 1.5 crore via LetsVenture

flipclasslogoBangalore-based tutor mediating service FlipClass has raised Rs. 1.5 crore in seed funding via the deal making website LetsVenture reports Economic Times. Participating investors included Hareesh Ramanna, founder of the Singapore based BlueCap Mobile Holdings.

The startup was founded in May 2013 by Vineet Dwivedi and it lists pre-screened and tested tutors on its website. FlipClass claims that its tutor base includes graduates from BITS, IITs, Stanford and IIMs among others.

Frilp raises $500K angel funding

frilplogoChennai-based discovery service Frilip has secured an angel funding of $500K from a group of individual investors including co-founder and CEO of Freshdesk Inc, Girish Mathrubootham and vice president (product) at Groupon Global, Deva Kannan reports Techcircle.in. Frilp will use the funds to launch in new cities, grow its team and strengthen its user base.

Frilp works by letting users find new shops or services through people they trust in the real world. The user initially puts up a question based on their requirement which is then forwarded to the people who are most likely to know a recommended service via a proprietary algorithm.

TrulyMadly launches Android App

trulymadly_logoOnline dating platform TrulyMadly has launched its Android app reports Nextbigwhat.com. The app functions similarly to the Hot or Not game by Tinder with its main USP being profile verification.

The app implements profile verification by assigning a Trust Score based on their LinkedIn and Facebook accounts. It also encourages users to provide an ID proof, passport, employment details and mobile number to get a higher trust score. The higher the trust score, the greater the chances of finding a match.

Snapdeal launches ‘Hotel and Catering supplies’ Category

SnapdealOnline marketplace Snapdeal.com has forayed into the hospitality segment with the launch of the ‘Hotel and Catering supplies’ category.

The new category will list products related to the catering business including Bar Accessories, Baking and Pizza Supplies, heavy gauge cutlery glassware and professional knives among others. The category will also list cookware and utensils recommended by chefs. The company also plans to integrate hotel linen such as pillows, bath linen and mattresses into the category in the near future.

Rajiv Mishra to join Samsung as VP (Media)

Former CEO of Lok Sabha TV Rajiv Mishra will be joining Samsung as the Vice President (media) of South West Asia office based in Gurgaon reports IndianTelevision.

Mishra career began at Hindustan Times where he stayed for 21 years before turning to electronic media. He then worked as a program manager in Star, senior manager – corporate in Zee TV, general manager of corporate affairs at Reliance Infocomm, COO & director at News 20 and COO at India News.

Rasika Bamba to join Quasar as the new Regional Head

Former head of business development and servicing at Hungama Digital Services Rasika Bamba will be joining Quasar as the Regional Head of North and East India.

Rasika Bamba joins the team with over 10 years of experience at Hungama and has previously worked with Yahoo India, Afaqs and Affle. She will now be responsible for media practices at Quasar and for scaling the business initiatives of the company.
