OnMobile Robi

OnMobile Global has signed an agreement with the Bangladesh telecom operator Robi Axiata to deploy various Interactive Voice Response solutions and RingBack Tones (RBT) on the latter’s network.

OnMobile mentions that the agreement has been signed for an initial five years and it hopes to expand this partnership with Robi during this time. The company notes that it recently started managing the RBT Service for Robi and will be using that partnership to deploy more features and introduce services like Reverse RingBack Tones among others.

OnMobile claims to have similar tie-ups with all operators in Bangladesh and with this deployment, it claims to be powering more than 68% of the RBT base in the country.

It’s worth noting that RBT services contributed for 59% of OnMobile’s revenues in FY14, marginally up from 58% in FY13. As of January 2014, the company claimed to have 50 RBT telecom operator customers across 35 countries. It also claimed to have more than 63 million monthly subscribers for RBT services in these markets.

in May, OnMobile had reported a net loss of Rs 124.3 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014. This was due to a goodwill non-cash impairment charges of Rs 68 crore arising from the Telisma acquisition and the Synchronoss IP settlement of Rs 35.4 crore, as part of the Voxmobili divestment

The net revenues however increased by 10.5% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 203.5 crore for the quarter, from Rs 184.1 crore in the previous quarter. OnMobile had also appointed Rajiv Pancholy as its CEO in May this year. He had taken over from OnMobile co-founder Mouli Raman who had stepped down as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company earlier this month. Pancholy was also appointed as OnMobile’s managing director last month.

Robi tie-ups: Mobile marketing firm Flytxt had tied up with Robi to deploy its mobile ad marketplace mADmart in February last year. In April last year, Spice Digital* had also rolled out an audio blogging service called Voice Tube for Robi subscribers. The company’s site suggests that the service has more than 70,000 users, with more than 65,000 calls on a daily basis.
