India's largest Direct-to-home service provider Dish TV has appointed Sandeep Bajpai as its Vice President of marketing, reports Economic Times. He will be taking over from Animesh Mishra. The company said Bajpai will be focusing on consolidating Dish TV's market and strengthening its organisational capabilities. Prior to this appointment, Bajpai was working as the head of communication & experience at Tata DOCOMO for the past three years. He's also had stints at Spice Hotspot, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Net2Phone. Earlier in the year, Dish TV had introduced a new sub-brand called ‘Zing’ to cater to the Phase 3 & 4 digitization markets. Through this brand, Dish TV claims that it will be offering the maximum number of local channels at minimal monthly rental for consumers through this brand. *** Bangalore-based digital media company SureWaves has appointed Ashish Baru as its Regional Director (West). He will be leading the company's business operations in the region. Baru was previously working with Headlines Today. He's also had stints at the now-defunct Imagine TV and Zee Group. Founded in 2006, SureWaves had raised Rs 35 crore from Canaan Partners, India Innovation Fund and Accel Partners in January this year. It had also raised Rs 10 crore from India Innovation Fund and Accel Partners in August 2011. The company had partnered with Asianet in Kerala to launch Spot TV service in 2010 and is now targeting several emerging and developed countries with its offerings.
