Motorola Mobility today named Amit Boni as the general manager for India operations. Boni will lead the team in India and be responsible for the go-to-market strategy. He joined Motorola in early 2010. Smartphone sales in India increased by 166.8% making it the world’s fastest growing smartphone market in the last quarter of 2013, according to Gartner. After Google decided to sell parts of Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.9 billion this year, Motorola re-entered the Indian market by launching it’s low-end device Moto G and Moto X available on Flipkart. Boni's first assignment was with Microland, Bangalore. After completing his MBA from MDI Gurgaon, he worked at EVS and Honeywell until 2010.
