Online content discovery platform Outbrain has appointed Gulshan Verma as the country manager of OutBrain India. In this role, he will be responsible for leading the setup and growth of Outbrain in the country.
Prior to this role, Verma was serving as the Chief Revenue Officer of Komli Media for more than a year. He had joined Komli Media in January 2011 as its vice president & ad network country head for India, US and Canada.
Before Komli, Verma was working as the Director of Sales Strategy for Yahoo India about a year and as the Director of Product Marketing for Yahoo’s search marketing business in the United States for about two years. He’s also worked at Ernst & Young, McKinsey & Co, International Management Group and Associated Press among others and has 15 years of experience in the digital media industry.
Outbrain-Times Internet: Last month, Outbrain had signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Times Internet to offer personalized content recommendations to readers on the latter’s online properties including The Times of India, The Economic Times and Indiatimes among others.
The company claims that it has witnessed significant growth in South-East Asia and India in the last 18 months, registering 800 million pageviews on a publisher network comprising of more than 150 publishers.
Note that Outbrain’s competitor Taboola had also launched operations in Asia Pacific in December last year and has inked agreements with Indian publishers and content providers like Hindustantimes.com, Bollywoodshaadis.com and India.com* properties like ZeeNews, CricketCountry, BollywoodLife, The Health Site, BGR India, and others.
