Vinod Sawhny Appointed RCOM CEO

vinod-sawhny-linkedinVinod Sawhny has been appointed the CEO of Reliance Communications, with Gurdeep Singh, CEO (Wireless) reporting to him. Sawhney was with the Bharti group for over 10 years, and had been Joint President (Airtel Enterprises), Executive Director, CEO Airtel (Mobility) and President and COO of Bharti Retail during his stint with the group.

Singh has also been given additional responsibility, as CEO (Consumer Business), including Wireless, DTH and Consumer Broadband. The consumer business accounts for 70% of RCOM’s revenues and operating profits.

Punit Garg will continue as CEO of Indian Enterprise and IDC, while Bill Barney will remain CEO of Reliance Globalcom.

RCOM’s management board now includes Sawhny, Singh, Garg, Barney and Suresh Rangachar (President IT & Services), Manikantan Iyer (CFO) and Amit Das (President, HR)


RCOM reported revenues of Rs 5,403 crore for the quarter ended December 31st 2013, and a net profit of Rs 108.4 crore, down 83.9% from Rs 675 crore the previous sequential quarter. The company has 36.2 million mobile Internet connections, 11.1 million of them 3G.
