Game4U, an online and physical retailer of gaming hardware and software operated by Milestone Interactive, is expanding its operations to South-East Asia. It will start with the digital distribution of its catalogue of 700 PC and Mac games in Singapore and Malaysia. These include games from publishers such as EA, Aspyr Media, Deep Silver, Square Enix and Namco Bandai Games. The company also plans to start operations in other South-East Asian countries, including Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. The games will be available in these markets as part of its Downloads4u offering launched in October 2012. Milestone Interactive Group chairman and CEO Jayont R Sharma said that the retailer is expecting a growth of over 100% year-on-year in the new markets, with a double-digit market share within the next three quarters. It also expects revenues of over $4 million over the next three years. Downloads4u lets Indian gamers buy select PC games that are otherwise available only on on digital stores such as Valve's Steam and EA's Origin without a credit card. Once you make the purchase, the company gives you a code within 24 hours, which can then be used to download the game. Such a service will help gamers, since a lot of existing credit/debit cards are not working on international stores such as Steam, due to RBI's mandate to restrict international transactions to chip-based cards.
