Mobile Presentation App Deck Receives $600K From Qualcomm and Sabeer Bhatia

Bangalore-based Deck  App Technologies, that lets people create presentations on the fly has received $600,000 seed funding from Qualcomm Ventures and angel investors led by Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia, reports TechCrunch. The company will use the funds raised to hire more employees and expand its operations to international markets. It is also planning to hire designers who have worked in movies such as Avatar from Hollywood design studios. The company currently offers mobile apps for iOS and Android apart from a free online version with paid tiers. A desktop version is also in the works as per its products page. Features offered by these apps include animated charts, slide transitions, and an in-built presentation theme library among others. Deck had received $100,000 from Qualcomm Ventures in the form of convertible note funding, after it won the India Edition of Qualcomm Ventures QPrize in 2012. It was also among the 13 technology startups Microsoft Accelerator inducted for its second batch in India.   It needs to be noted that Deck founder Sumanth Raghavendra was earlier working on Instalcoll, a suite of applications that were built with online collaboration in mind, which also received funding from Bhatia. Deck competes with Prezi, Haiku Deck apart from Apple's Keynote, Microsft Office and Google's Quickoffice.
