BigFlix Inks Content Deal With Vishesh Films

Reliance Entertainment’s video streaming service BigFlix.com has signed a licensing agreement to add Vishesh Films’ movie titles to its catalogue.

As part of the deal, BigFlix subscribers can stream movie titles like Jannat, Kalyug, Murder series, Jism series, Sadak, Ghulam, Sir and others, on the web, its mobile apps across iOSAndroid, and Windows Phone and download these movie titles through its desktop app. The deal period or the terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

The company currently offers various premium subscription plans starting at Rs 99 (1 week), and going up to Rs 249 (one month), Rs 599 (3 months), Rs 999 (6 months) and Rs 1,799 (1 year).

Earlier this year, BigFlix had signed a similar licensing agreement with Shemaroo Entertainment to secure streaming rights for movies across multiple languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil. It had also partnered IndiaCast to secure streaming rights for Hindi movie titles from Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, which included titles like Inkaar, Oh My God, Department, Special 26 and other popular movie titles like Jab We Met, Kidnap, Golmaal Returns, Life Partner and Luck among others.

Other content partnerships include Disney for action and animation movies in January 2013, Unisys Infosolutions for around 200 movie titles in March 2012 and UTV Motion Pictures for more than 45 UTV movie titles in January 2012. However, what’s worth noting here is that unlike its competitors like YouTube, BoxTV & Spuul, BigFlix continues to offer only movies and hasn’t forayed into TV content yet.

In September 2013, BigFlix had also re-introduced a download manager for desktops, which allows BigFlix subscribers to download movies from the service and watch them offline. The company had also partnered Nokia to preload BigFlix on select Nokia Lumia smartphones like Nokia Lumia 625, Lumia 520, Lumia 720 and others.
