French advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe is continuing its acquisition spree in India: it has acquired the Mumbai-based integrated communications solution provider Beehive Communications.
Following this acquisition, Beehive Communications will be rebranded as Publicis Beehive and will operate as a unit under Publicis Worldwide. The current leadership team including Beehive founder and CEO Sanjit Shastri will however continue to lead the agency and will report to Nakul Chopra, CEO-South Asia, Publicis Worldwide.
Chopra told FirstPost that this acquisition will enable them to offer a much wider array of services and more importantly, media planning and buying services to its clients.
Founded in 2003, Beehive Communications provides digital solutions like web design & development, display advertising, social media, mobile and app design and other media and research services like media buying, corporate communications, media management, syndicated and custom research, opinion polling and others.
It has also created TV, print, outdoor and radio ad campaigns for several national and international clients and its clientele include Malaysia Tourism, General Motors, Korea Tourism, Jubiliant Retail, India Bulls Finance and Bisleri. It currently has 130 employees and has offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

This is Publicis Groupe’s seventh acquisition since mid-2012 in India and is also probably in line with Publicis’ aims to double its size in India by 2015. Previous acquisitions include:

– Digital marketing and web development agency Indigo Consulting in April 2012.
In 2010, Publicis had also acquired a majority stake in 20:20 Media, public relations company and 2020Social, a social media consulting company.
The company had merged with another ad giant Omnicom, earlier in July and claims to have around 3,200 employees across India through various networks like BBH, Digitas, Leo Burnett, MSLGROUP, Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, Publicis Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, Starcom MediaVest Group, and ZenithOptimedia.
