Minglebox Introduces Massive Open Online Course Section

Sequoia Capital backed education portal Minglebox has introduced a Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) section which intends to aggregate information on all the MOOC providers across the globe onto a single platform. When we checked, we noticed that this new section provides a directory of MOOC providers, news on MOOC providers and general information educating users about MOOCs. The website may not see direct monetary benefits from the inclusion of MOOCs, however this may lead to increase in traffic to the website in turn contributing to their ad revenue. The website also offers information about online courses offered by different universities around the world. Minglekart & Minglebox Acquisition: When we checked, we also noticed that the company seems to have an e-commerce store for students called Minglekart, however the website was under maintenance. The website seems to offer products across categories such as stationery, mobiles, engineering kits, games, watches, bags, wallets, belts, computers, cameras and even lifestyle. Started in 2006 as a social networking site of sorts for college students, Minglebox course corrected to re-brand itself as a 'college,education,career' site in 2008. Minglebox offers information on universities and colleges in India and abroad across different streams of education including entrance examination dates, syllabus, among other resources. It also provides sample papers for campus placement exams conducted by different companies and offers a set of mobile applications for select set of examinations like CAT, IELTS, among others.
