With over $400 million invested across 141 deals in the first half of 2013, the largest single deal closure as exit for RedBus worth $150 million and the inception of over 300 Startups in the first quarter of 2013 – there couldn’t be a better time for TechCrunch to launch its series of India City Events in association with PlatformPlay.

TechCrunch, with its first event this year will be a two day event in Bangalore, which will focus largely on building exciting global companies from India and to help propel India’s Tech Startups into the center of the debate about the recent changes in technology and the way they harness the current economic climate to innovate and grow.

The event will comprise a Hackathon, Pitch Presentation and Startup Zone with a conference on the second day with top speakers and panelists from across the country and the globe.

In the Hackathon, over 400 hackers shortlisted from over 750 entries, picked from across the country, will work in groups to create their products/applications/services in 24 hours. The following day, every team will get 60 seconds to pitch their speed creation to a panel of expert judges and audience members.

Also, there will be Pitch Presentations which will involve around 50 previously selected companies from over 400 entries, launching their products before a live and online audience. The judging panel for the event will include 50+ VCs and investors, seasoned entrepreneurs and tech & product experts.

The winning teams will be awarded with tickets to the TechCrunch Mega Event in Delhi planned for August 2014, and a chance to be at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2014.

With the Startup Zone, a venue for startups seeking exposure to investors, partners, and media, the early-stage companies will get a chance to showcase their talent and technology.

The main conference will have Keynotes featuring speakers from across the globe and includes the likes of Turochas ‘T’ Fuad, CEO and Co-founder Travelmob and Keith Nilsson, Partner, TPG Growth apart from interesting panel discussions and star-chats featuring success stories from India and the world. Troy Malone, Evernote Corporation and Anthony Hearne, Outbrain are some of the names apart from several other best minds in the industry that are going to the grace the TechCrunch Bangalore stage.
